I was standing on my front porch Sunday morning when this friendly dog trotted up to me. I was hungry for breakfast, but I instantly lost my appetite when I saw how skinny he was.
He really weighs next to nothing in this state, but he must be young because he's full of energy. I looked at some found dog ads on craigslist. People often post there AFTER they drop strays off with animal control. It looks like the dogs have about 5 days to be adopted before they are euthanized.
His appetite has increased tenfold in just 24 hours. I don't know what kind of worms or parasites he may have. I need to take him to the vet. I bought him some of this super premium puppy food (the puppy food is a little more rich in fat and protein) http://www.bil-jac.com/ With his increased appetite, he'll be going through this puppy food really quick.
He still has a lot of weight to put on. The only way I could get a good pic of him was through the glass. He was just too excited about the camera. He has not shown a single sign of aggression or fear since he showed up.

My roommate called 3 different shelters today. They all pretty much said "No pit bulls."
Not that I'm surprised at all by this. At any rate, Skeletor is having tons of fun regaining his health!
He weighed in at 47 lbs today. He may have put on a pound since yesterday.. not sure.
I'd guess that a healthy weight for this guy would be over 65 lbs.

My roommate called the Jacksonville Humane Society today. Here's what she said:
"So, I just called the jacksonville humane society and they only accept animals that are being given up by their owners... "pet surrender" no strays, lost and founds or anything. If you have a pet that you want to surrender you have to make an appointment and have like all kinds of reasoning of why you are surrendering your pet and how long you have owned it "
This comes as no surprise to me, which is why I have already decided to help Skeletor myself and try to find him a loving new home. He wouldn't last a week if picked up by animal control.
